The All-Electric Advantage :
Electric vs. Pneumatic
Powered
by a single
1/2 HP
electric motor,
the single most important thing to appreciate about the
M-Series is that it is a 100%
electric-mechanical design.
This is a crucial difference, because traditional hot stamp presses are
powered by pneumatic air, hydraulic oil, or a mixture of both.
Although these are well respected technologies, there are inherent
drawbacks to both power sources such as :
-
Hydraulic machinery is loud and
dirty = suitable for use in factory environments only.
-
Pneumatic machines require an air
compressor = workplace noise + expenses to buy, pipe, and power.
-
Both systems employ an extensive
system of valves, tubes, seals and fittings, all of which can leak,
clog, stick or break = higher maintenance.
In
contrast, the M-Series' all-electric
design :
-
Eliminates the need to purchase and power an air compressor.
-
Instantly liberates you from entire classes of parts and maintenance
issues associated with pneumatics and/or hydraulics.
-
Operates at about the sound of a sewing machine.
-
Produces no exhaust.
Both
environmentally friendly and friendly to the worker,
many of our home, office and city-based clients identify the elimination
of compressed air as one of the most important reasons they decide to
invest in the M.
Besides being easy to deploy, and
pleasant to use, the M-Series print
engine produces a quality hot stamp because :
- The print head is cycled by 2
oversize cams that cycle the head to precisely the same position
with every revolution = print precision.
-
Pressure is
applied at
all four corners = an even dispersion of pressure across the entire
surface of the print face.
-
The 'Attack Speed'
brings the head down from very slowly thru fast. Different
than dwell time, attack speed affords additional control over the
print cycle.
Malahide M-Series
Hot Stamping Press :
Malahide is
pleased to present the M-Series General Duty Hot
Stamping Press. A 5-ton
vertical press, this versatile machine is able to service a wide range of hot
stamping applications including :
- Retail Bags
- Retail Boxes
- Books & Folders
- Leather products
- Plastic containers
- Signs, Badges & Plaques
- Plastic Parts of many kinds
- Matt board, Art papers & Photo mounts
- Extra-long, extra-wide and continuous
pieces
The Malahide M-Series offers a fresh and markedly different approach
to the design of the vertical hot stamp machine. The M
is a new
twist on Malahide's core technology, the
E-Series all-electric print-head.
Whereas on E-Series machines we use the print head to pull inward, the
M-Series
presses downwards. Enabling the machine to approach parts from a new
direction, this design difference enables Malahide to now serve applications that we could
not previously address.
Delivering 5 tons
of pressure across a print area of up to 6" x 12", the
M-Series uses no compressed
air in it's operation. With no air required, the machine instantly becomes
simpler to deploy, less expensive to power and significantly quieter when in
operation.
Maintenance requirements are also reduced because our all-electric
platform eliminates entire classes of pneumatic components that can go wrong,
such as valves, seals and hoses. Simplifying both initial setup and
long-term maintenance, our electric design = operational cost savings throughout
the machine's whole working life.
Frame, Size and
Customization :
Design innovations continue in our
approach to the frame. Built with flexibility in
mind, M-Series machines feature :
-
I-Beam
frame construction that allows the machine to be stretched wider, made taller,
or placed in-line with secondary equipment.
-
The lack of a back column enables the press to handle extra-long parts,
straddle a conveyor, or have a web or extruded product running straight
through.
-
Provides a sturdy base onto which
a variety of parts fixtures or bases can be built
-
Robotic feeders are welcomed by a wide-open front or back.
Print Engine :
One
central CAM mechanism supplies mechanical power to the print head. Smooth
and precise, all bearings and parts are purposefully oversized to ensure long
life and durability. The
M generates up to 5 tons of pressure, more than
sufficient to stamp broad coverage artwork and fine details.
The
CAM mechanism powers the print head, pushing it down from all four corners.
This results in an even dispersion of pressure. 2 heaters ensure even heating,
and 4 leveling screws on the top of the head allow for fine adjustment.
A
central pivot allows one to rotate the head 5 degrees each way for fine
alignment.
Print Head
: The print head has
several features that are used to perfect the hot stamp:
-
Four
leveling
screws on the top of the head allow for fine adjustment.
-
A central pivot allows
one to pivot the head into alignment with the part.
-
A
central heater runs the length of the head to ensure even heating.
Foil Feed :
The foil feeds into
the machine, beneath the print head, and towards the rear where it is threaded
through the drive system.
The
foil advance is adjusted by means of a crank located within the upper case. One simply unlocks
a nut, and
then turns a knob to adjust the ribbon pull from 1" ~ 6.25".
Hand Switches :
In semi-automatic operation, the press is activated
by two LED hand switches that minimize operator strain. Fully interlocked,
the switches must be tripped simultaneously, and then held down until the
M
completes its down stroke.
In fully automatic mode, the press is activated by a
synchronization signal being sent to it by an external control system.
Fixed guards or light curtains can be added as required.
Control Box :
An intuitive set of
controls help the M to be easy to understand and operate.
Standard controls include :
Power
On/Off
Jog
Button
Start Button
Stop Button
Motor Speed
Chase Lock
Heat Control
Dwell Time
Foil Delay
The ' M ' Stands for Masterpiece !
There are many hot stamping
machines to choose from, but only 1 all-electric vertical hot stamper.
The
M-Series equips today's hot stamp professional
with a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to legacy
equipment. A fresh and innovative design in a market filled with otherwise
generic equipment, put the M to work in your factory . . . and expect
Marvelous results.
